Wedding Photography
First things first…. I am not a wedding photographer.
I may have shot many weddings over the years but I am not a wedding photographer.
I don’t want to be.
Why? Because those folk end up doing the same thing every weekend and then every wedding just merges into one.
I believe weddings are special. They are special for the couple, the guests and I want the photos to look special. But if I did the same thing every week then I doubt the photos would look special enough.
So I decided years ago to only shoot weddings for my clients (who I have worked with for years and have a relationship with) and for friends of friends who think we would be a good fit.
That way I hope my wedding photography stay special for everyone.
My relaxed, documentary approach to weddings is about capturing the excitement of the day as it happens. I don’t believe in dictating when and how your photographs must be taken as I believe I should work around how you would like your day to go. I will let you know if I see a field of wheat next to the venue that will have amazing light at 6pm but it is totally up to you if you want to take 20mins out from the party or not. It is your day and I never forget that. Working in a documentary style means that I try not to intrude and I capture your amazing day as it unfurls helping you to enjoy it without added stress. I dress appropriately so I blend in with the other guests through out the day.
Getting Ready
I love the build up to the wedding. It’s so important to document it. The friends and family hanging out and enjoying a special moment. And I get to be a fly on the wall during this personal and intimate time. I always feel honoured to be part of it.
The Ceremony and Wedding Breakfast
This is where I turn ninja and try to be as subtle as possible. Looking for the emotions and all the special little moments that happen along side the main event.
Couple and Group pictures
There are times during the wedding day that do need a bit of structure for photography as, even if you aren’t a huge fan of group pictures it is a good idea to have a few to make sure you get a photo of everyone who was there. I keep that as relaxed and stress free as possible so you can continue to enjoy the day but a good Usher / Bridemaid / Bestman as a helper really helps speed things along!
Party time..
